I know I would of been in jail for assault and battery. no I am lucky I did not come out the back dock door and catch him red handed. When I seen that broken glass I called the cops then went looking for that guy, he is lucky. I do hope he did not et way with much if anything. If I had forgotten to hit my lock button it would of cost me thousands of dollars in stolen tools instead of $200 for a new window. Only advice I can give is to make sure every time you leave your van is to hit the lock button. So I got real lucky that all it cost me was the new window. My partner walked to the passenger side of the van to find the guy smashed the window and was hitting the door unlock on the console which will only unlock the factory locks not the deadbolts. I pulled on the back door noticed the normal door lock was undone but the deadbolt was still locked. He informed us the guy had broken into the van as well, and he was yelling at the guy from the roof of the building across the street. As we where trying to reattach the hing this roofer came over. As we opened it we noticed the cans where still there and nothing touched, but did notice in his haste he cracked the hinge from the fiberglass lid. My partner and I both thought he stole our gas cans from the trailer. So I ran up to the truck and noticed the handles on the trailer I was towing where in the open position. As I was walking back to my van I seen this guy take off from behind the store, cross the street and head to the gang way of this one house. I parked behind a store i was doing work at, and had to go in through the front to get the key for the back door. I drive a 158 tall cargo sprinter that I have had the deadbolt locks installed on my duel sliding doors as well as the back door, so when I lock my door the dead bolts lock the cargo area as well. I better calm down and go outside to put it back and see what he managed to pocket I guess! FOund the inside thoroughly turned over, everything gone from the front dash, the glove box open and the manual missing, pretty much the back in shambles with my 3-drawer organizing box that is usually just strapped to the floor upended and the contents strewn - and he'd put everything he was going to take in the handy two daypacks I keep extra clothes in (including the manual) Worst of all it seems is the thick cigarette smoke - he must have been in there for a while. I've just bought a Maxxair vent and was lookiing at TwistyRoad's pics of where he cut the big 14" hole, went to the side window to see if my roof was the same as his - and - why is the side door open? What the hell is that guy doing in my van? Opened the window and yelled and he made a less-than-hasty retreat, but was gone before me and the dog got out the door. They also work on the Vanlok® key system meaning that you can have whichever locks fitted to your van keyed alike with one key saving you from having lots of separate keys for your van locks.I was in to the office early and parked on the street - took the dog for a short walk, went inside and managed to forget to lock the Sprinter up. If this is what you need then have a look at our hooklocks today. Some of our customers have been asking us about deadlocks with a hook type bolt they operate exactly the same as a deadlock but instead of a bolt coming straight out into the door pillar they swing round and actually hook into the post giving additional protection against thieves trying to prise apart the door from the pillar. This includes stainless steel strike plates and brackets. Sometimes referred to as an overnight lock, they can either be left locked or unlocked as the driver wishes, for example they can leave them unlocked and use the factory remote locking system during the day and then add the additional layer of deadlock security overnight or when they feel that the van is in a particularly vulnerable place.Īs well as offering the additional physical protection that today’s tradesmen need to secure their vans, van deadlocks also offer a visual deterrent to would be opportunists that are looking for a quick win.Īll of our Deadlok® van deadlock kits are supplied keyed alike with a set of 3 keys and all of the fixtures and fittings needed to provide a quality installation. They operate by rotating the high security key in the cylinder which throws over the deadbolt, which adds an additional high security locking point to the van door. Van deadlocks are still the most common lock fitted to vans today.
